Awards

The Attorney Robert W. Munley Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award is presented each year by Lackawanna Pro Bono, a non-profit organization designed to provide free legal representation for low-income families and individuals in Lackawanna County.

The Robert W. Munley Pursuit of Justice Award

The Robert W. Munley Pursuit of Justice Award is an annual award given by the American Association for Justice Trucking Group. Named after Munley Law founder, Robert W. Munley and formerly known as the “Chairman’s Award,” the award is given to an attorney who has done extraordinary work to further the group’s objectives. Partners Marion Munley and Daniel W. Munley were the first attorneys to win the renamed award.

Lackawanna Pro Bono

Lackawanna Pro Bono helps those in need by matching them with lawyers who volunteer their services free of charge. Each year, members of the community who have demonstrated exceptional service and dedication to Lackawanna County are presented with the Robert W. Munley Distinguished Service Award at the annual Lackawanna Pro Bono Fundraising Gala. Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys is proud to support and partner with this cause.

Friends of the Poor

Friends of the Poor was founded by Sister Adrian Barrett, IHM, in 1984. The organization relies entirely on volunteers and donors to ease the burden of poverty for low-income families in our community.

The Schemel Forum

Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys is a major donor of the Schemel Forum at the University of Scranton. The Schemel Forum is an educational initiative founded in July, 2006, through generous gifts to the Rev. George Schemel, S.J., Fund, created by friends of the late Father Schemel in his loving memory. Its aim is to provide an opportunity for people of all ages to explore the intellectual and cultural wonders of the world.

Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys sponsors the annual Clash for Cash in support of Allied Services in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Along with a variety of private agencies, the firm has underwritten expense free trips to send more than 300 children and adult volunteers to the United States Capital in Washington, D.C. in association with Scranton Project Hope. Project Hope helps children from low-income families realize how important it is for Americans to learn about and participate actively in our democracy, both as citizens and as leaders.

Munley is proud to be affiliated with Serving Seniors, which is dedicated to improving the and care of nursing home residents, personal care home residents and older adults in Lackawanna County.

Dress For Success Lackawanna

Dress for Success is an organization that assists women, especially those in poverty, to secure employment and become financially independent. In addition to the provision of professional attire, Dress for Success supports women’s professional development, success, and gender equality.

 

Each month, the Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys firm’s entire staff dedicates themselves to a different cause or non-profit organization.

Some local causes include Valley View High School, Riverside High School, Judi Hartridge Memorial Fund, Maple Hill Rescue, raising funds for a local man in need of a kidney transplant, Back Mountain Food Pantry, the family of slain PA state trooper Cpl. Bryon Dickson (PSP Strong), and the St. Francis of Assisi Soup Kitchen.

The Everhart Museum is a nationally recognized museum in Scranton displaying temporary and permanent exhibitions of art, science, and natural history. In 2023, the Munley Family, along with Munley Law, gifted the museum the Founder’s Gallery, a long-term exhibition that focuses on the life of the museum’s founder, Dr. Isaiah Fawkes Everhart.

Meals on Wheels NEPA relies on volunteers and charitable donations to provide meals for economically disadvantaged adults in our community.

Founded in 2006, Building Homes for Heroes is devoted to building or modifying homes for veterans and their families, as well as providing financial planning services, family funding, and emergency support.

Through research, education, and patient advocacy, the Lupus Foundation strives to improve the quality of life for Lupus patients. They work to ensure that people with lupus have access to better  treatment and are diagnosed sooner.

The ALS Association is the nation’s only non-profit devoted to fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease. They aim to improve quality of life for those with ALS and lead the nation in research, public education, and patient advocacy.

Prevent PA Child Abuse

Prevent Child Abuse Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America aims to prevent abuse and neglect of all children in PA. They raise public awareness, work  to change public policy, and build prevention programs for children, caregivers, and parents.

In addition, we offer scholarships to several colleges for those interested in pursuing a career in the law.
