From a young age, Edward A. Monsky understood that law and policy can positively affect the quality of people’s lives—and he knew he personally wanted to play a role in that process. Ed was especially inspired by his mother, who was active in local and state government. While a student at Scranton Central High School, he honed his voice in his school’s debate and political science clubs. He studied sociology and spent a few years working in government before realizing he would have the most impact as an attorney.
After obtaining his JD, Ed spent the majority of his career as a defense attorney—for four years in Wilkes-Barre, and then for 35 years in Scranton—representing insurance companies on auto claims, falls and professional liability, including medical malpractice. He came over to the plaintiff’s side when he joined Munley Law in 2020. Four decades into his career, he continues to learn by listening to clients and asking questions, and he continues to look for new ways to advance the law, one case at a time.
When he’s not fighting on behalf of clients in the office, Ed dedicates his time to community work, including a years-long involvement with the Scranton Jewish Community Center and the local senior living facility,oh wait Elan Gardens. He also plays basketball and enjoys walking, listening to music, bowling, and reading. Ed and his wife have two sons and five grandchildren.
