James Christopher Munley is an award-winning plaintiffs’ lawyer who has dedicated his career to fighting for accident victims and their families. As a board-certified civil trial advocate, Chris is widely regarded across the United States as a leading personal injury and truck accident attorney. He has multiple multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements to his name thanks to his diligence and unwavering dedication to his clients.

For his work in truck accident litigation, Chris has been named to the Best Lawyers in America since 2012. He has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer since 2013 and was recently named to the 2026 Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America guide. He has also been named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers list for the past three years. Chris has also been named to the Irish Legal 100 and has received an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

Also a champion of workers’ rights, Chris was recognized by Best Lawyers in America as Workers’ Compensation Lawyer of the Year. He is currently a member of the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association of Justice.

Chris is the founder of ATLAS LAWYERS Legal Seminars, a conference series that brings together attorneys across the United States to share insights on managing a thriving law firm in the 21st century. The organization has held 20 conferences in 16 cities across the United States over the last 18 years and has hosted over 100 programs on law firm marketing, management, technology, human resources, and business development.

Outside of his contributions in courtrooms and negotiation rooms across the United States, Chris is dedicated to improving local Pennsylvania communities. He served as the chairman of Lackawanna County’s PNC Field, which is home to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders (a New York Yankees AAA Affiliate). He is the past President of the Scranton Club and has served as an Ambassador for Meals on Wheels. In addition, he regularly speaks at senior community centers on relevant safety topics.

Chris and his wife, Dr. Maria Yager Munley, are the proud parents of two children.
