A history major in college, John Mulcahey originally planned to go into academia. He soon realized, though, that the study of law and philosophy captivated him, and a career in the legal field would open up more dynamic possibilities—he could directly impact clients’ lives, he would have more interaction with lawyers and judges, and no two days on the job would ever be the same. It has proven to be the correct choice for John, who finds great fulfillment in his work, particularly when he takes on a case and proves it’s winnable.
While at Duquesne Law School, John began working for a civil litigation insurance defense firm. He later served primarily as a defense attorney but eventually began to take on plaintiff‘s cases. Having worked in the region for over a decade, John knew the Munleys—Robert, the founder of Munley Law, and his children/current partners Chris, Marion, and Caroline, who approached John about joining the firm. Well-versed in Munley Law’s reputation for excellence and integrity, John came on board in 2014.
John is board-certified in Civil Pretrial Practice Advocacy and certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. With his history working as coverage counsel in the insurance space, he has deep expertise in seeking plaintiffs’ compensation in insurance claims and bad faith insurance cases, as well as personal injury and underinsured and uninsured motorist cases. He is a savvy litigation expert and a formidable trial advocate, handling numerous complex arbitrations and mediations and successfully settling cases on behalf of his clients.
John is married to attorney Danielle Mulcahey, and they are proud parents of a son. In his free time, he enjoys skiing and golfing.
