With more than 600 acres of wooded trails, there are miles of trails to choose from, and you can construct a day of your choice of passage. A creek weaves through Nolde’s serene landscapes. There are hiking trails, birdwatching, and guided nature walks. Throughout the year, educational programs are available to sign up for. The vastness and choice of trails make this park a great spot to explore.
Gring’s Mill Recreation Area

Scenic biking and hiking trails hug the Tulpehocken Creek throughout Gring’s Mill. Visitors have access to picnic areas, a historic mill, concerts, and seasonal light shows. It even has its fitness circuit! Gring’s Mill is ideal for a peaceful day moving outdoors or for a family outing.
Antietam Lake Park

Fishing, boating, kayaking, birding, and hiking are everyday activities in Antietam Lake Park. Beautiful lake views make this park a tranquil place to spend time and relax. It is a gorgeous place for family hiking and is pet-friendly, too!
City Park

City Park is a popular green space in Reading that offers various recreational and cultural activities. There are trails for the novice or experienced hiker, and a parking lot makes accessibility incredibly convenient.
Tulpehocken Creek Valley Park

Just across from Red Bridge and Berks County Heritage Center, this park offers many trails for recreation enthusiasts. It’s also great for fishing, nature walks and the biking trails are exceptional, too.
Berks County Heritage Center
1102 Red Bridge Rd.

The Heritage Center sits upon the Tulpehocken Creek and resides in a park that is enjoyed by many. There are many historical landmarks on the grounds: “Red Bridge,” also known as Wertz’s Covered Bridge, was built in 1867 and is the longest single span covered bridges in Pennsylvania. It is only used for pedestrian traffic. The Gruber Wagon Works and the Canal lectures and workshops are wonderful. This historical park has many trails and is not pet-friendly. The expansive grounds here comprise a hidden gem that has much to offer, trails, picnic areas, events, and educational tours.
