Tragic Two-Car Accident in Florida Results in Death of Unborn Child

A Wednesday morning crash near Bradenton, Florida left a 19-year-old pregnant woman in critical condition and resulted in the death of her unborn child.  The accident occurred around 10 a.m. when the car in which the woman was a passenger, was making a left-hand turn and was stuck by a Ford pickup heading northbound on 14th Street West.  The car was stuck on the passenger side, then hit a pole before coming to rest.  The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.  The driver of the car suffered serious injuries, and faces charges of violation of a right of way while making a left turn.  The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Stray Dog Causes Kansas Accident

A dog running on I-70 in West Topeka, Kansas, contributed to a two-car crash on Thursday morning that sent one person to the hospital.  An eastbound SUV that had slowed for the dog that was on the shoulder of the road was rear-ended by an eastbound pickup truck.  Both vehicles contained only the drivers, who were both wearing their seatbelts.

Georgia Teen Facing Charges from Crash that Killed his Mother

A 16-year-old-driver was attempting to turn left at an intersection last week in Atlanta when another car struck his vehicle's passenger side, killing his mother.  According to the police, the teen was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield the right of way. His father does not agree with the charges, however, the police say they have to follow the law and that they “can't just pick and choose what we think is appropriate based on the emotion of the incident.”

 

Drunk Driver Kills One, Injures One in North Carolina

A suspected drunk driver traveling 90 mph in a 35 mph zone slammed into another car on Saturday  in Raleigh, North Carolina, leaving one woman dead and another seriously injured. Police report that the victims were attempting to make a left turn when their car was struck by the SUV driven by the man suspected of .  According to police the man had been speeding and was straddling the double yellow line prior to the accident. The man has been charged with second-degree murder in the accident.
