South Carolina State troopers say a high school senior was killed when her Honda Accord crossed the center lane and hit the rear tires of a log truck’s trailer which was traveling in the opposite direction. The accident happened in Beaufort County. Witnesses say the student appeared to be looking down at the time of the accident and information retrieved from her phone shows she was reading and sending text messages while driving home from school. She had read a text less than a minute before the first 911 call was made, reports WITN.com.
One Dead and One Injured In Fiery Salt Lake City Crash
It is not yet know if a woman died from her injuries after her Mazda sedan hit a pickup truck in downtown Salt Lake City or if she died from the flames when her car caught fire after the impact, reports The Salt Lake City Tribune. The driver of the GMC Sierra pickup was in serious condition in University Hospital. Speed and a possibly a run red light may have contributed to the accident.
Rollover Accident In West Concord, Ma. Sends One To The Hospital
A three car crash on Commonwealth Avenue in Concord sent one person to the hospital. According to the police report one car, pulled out in front of another car, which in turn struck a third car causing it to roll over, reports the Concord Journal. The intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Laws Brook Road was closed for about an hour for the crash to be investigated. The driver of the first car had been talking on a cell phone at the time of the accident, the article reported.
Fire Hydrant Flies In Deadly Crash At South Jersey Bar
NBCPhiladelphia reports a driver traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into a South Jersey bar Thursday morning killing his passenger and seriously injuring himself and another man. The other man was standing outside of the bar after celebrating his birthday. The crash knocked loose a fire hydrant, which traveled about a city block and hit the man standing outside of the bar. The Somers Point, N.J. accident also knocked over a power pole, leaving 2,000 people without power.
