Turkeys to Needy Families Each Year

Imagine telling your children that you don’t have enough money to buy food for Thanksgiving dinner. While everyone else in your community gathers around the dinner table to celebrate a day of thanks, you and your children have little to celebrate. Unfortunately, that is what Thanksgiving means for many families and each year the need grows greater.

For 28 years, Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys has teamed up with the Family to Family Thanksgiving organization to provide Thanksgiving dinner baskets to needy families throughout northeastern Pennsylvania. Since 1986 Family to Family has provided Thanksgiving baskets to  over 100,000 families and have fed over 340,000 people. As we all gather around the Thanksgiving table each year to give thanks for all we have been given, we do so with the knowledge that we have helped in some small way to ease the burden other families bear during this season.

Who We Are Helping

You may be surprised at the actual poverty level in the Scranton area and who those poor people really are. One in six Scranton area residents are living below the poverty level. But they aren’t thanksgiving givingseniors on Social Security or other adults, as you might imagine. Nearly a third of the poor in our area are children, according to the American Community Survey, a branch of the U.S. Census. In Lackawanna County, for example, most of those living below the poverty level are children. Roughly 12,000 to be exact while in Luzerne county the picture is even bleaker with more than 14,000 children currently living below the poverty level. Many of these children have never known what it’s like to sit down for a Thanksgiving dinner with their families, a tradition most of us take for granted. Instead, they will go, as they do most days, hungry and malnourished.

On this one day when most of us have so much to be thankful for, won’t you give so that others may be nourished with our bounty? It will not only make their  Thanksgiving better, it will make yours more meaningful too. For a small donation of just $25 you can help Family to Family feed one family and that one family will remember your generous gift for years to come. Any donation amount will be appreciated. With a team of over sixty volunteers, we will distribute the Thanksgiving baskets that your donation allows us to provide. Please visit Family to Family today.

Chris Munley represented my dad at a very difficult time with compassion yet in the court room he was the fighter we needed. Chris helped my family during a time of incredible hardship when my dad was hit head on by 2 teenage girls. He took the time to answer all of our questions at any given time when we needed him. He treated my entire family with respect and helped us to get what we deserved. I would recommend Chris Munley to anyone in need of a reliable, determined, and trustworthy attorney.
