What To Do Flat Tire

If you have a flat tire, reduce speed gradually and avoid sudden steering or hard braking. Keep control of the vehicle and pull into a safe, level area away from moving traffic whenever possible. Turn on your hazard lights and apply the parking brake after stopping. Check whether your vehicle has a usable spare tire, inflator kit or roadside assistance. If you know how to change a tire and can do so in a genuinely safe location, follow the jacking and wheel-change procedure in the owner’s manual. Never position yourself where passing traffic could strike you, and never go underneath a vehicle supported only by an emergency jack. If the location is unsafe or you do not have the proper equipment, call roadside assistance, a towing service or a mobile tire provider. Temporary spare tires often have lower maximum speeds and limited driving ranges. Once mobile again, have the damaged tire inspected and repair or replace it as soon as practical.
