Who To Call If You Get A Flat Tire

If you get a flat tire, the best person to call is usually your roadside assistance provider, auto insurer, vehicle manufacturer’s roadside service, local towing company or a mobile tire service. Check your insurance card, vehicle app or warranty documents first because you may already have roadside coverage. If you are in a dangerous position, such as a traffic lane or narrow shoulder, prioritise safety. Turn on your hazard lights and move the vehicle away from moving traffic if it can be done safely. Do not attempt to change a tire beside fast-moving traffic if doing so puts you at risk. Emergency services may be appropriate when the disabled vehicle creates an immediate road hazard or someone is in danger, but they are not normally a substitute for routine roadside assistance. When calling a service provider, give your exact location, vehicle description and the nature of the problem. Ask about call-out, towing or tire-change charges before authorising non-emergency service.
