Hit and Run Accidents Involving Pedestrians in Pennsylvania
Hit and run pedestrian accidents represent some of the most concerning car accidents in Pennsylvania, with victims often left without immediate medical attention during critical moments after impact. These accidents frequently occur in areas with high foot traffic, such as downtown districts, residential neighborhoods, and near public transit stops, particularly during evening hours when visibility is reduced.
Witnesses play a vital role in helping law enforcement identify the fleeing vehicle. Key details like partial license plate numbers, vehicle make, model, and color can significantly aid investigations. Modern technology has become increasingly important in solving these cases, with surveillance cameras, traffic cameras, and even doorbell cameras often providing evidence.
Recovery for victims of hit and run pedestrian accidents often involves complex insurance matters. Victims may need to rely on their own uninsured motorist coverage or personal injury protection insurance if the driver is never found. Medical expenses, lost wages, and long-term rehabilitation costs can be substantial, particularly given the severity of injuries typically sustained when pedestrians are struck by vehicles.
