BUCKS COUNTY, PA (July 17, 2025) — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a pickup truck on Route 611 this afternoon.

The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Route 611 southbound near the intersection with Street Road in Warminster Township. According to Pennsylvania State Police, a pickup truck was making a left turn onto Street Road when it collided with an oncoming motorcycle.

The impact threw the motorcyclist from the bike. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to Abington Hospital Jefferson Health with minor injuries.

Police report the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The pickup truck sustained front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Route 611 southbound was closed between Street Road and County Line Road for approximately two hours while emergency responders worked to clear the scene and conduct their investigation. Traffic was diverted onto local roads, causing significant delays during the afternoon rush hour.

The Pennsylvania State Police investigation remains ongoing.

Motorcycle Accidents in Pennsylvania

Navigating the aftermath of a car accident requires specialized legal knowledge. Insurance companies often attempt to minimize payouts, even in tragic circumstances.

Understanding the most frequent causes of motorcycle accidents can help raise awareness about preventable tragedies:

  • Left-Turn Crashes: When vehicles fail to yield right-of-way to oncoming motorcycles while making left turns at intersections.
  • Failure to See Motorcyclists: Drivers often claim they “didn’t see” the motorcycle due to its smaller profile and blind spot issues.
  • Speeding: Excessive speed reduces a driver’s ability to respond to hazards and increases crash severity for all vehicles involved.
  • Lane Splitting: Motorcycles riding between lanes of traffic can lead to serious accidents when drivers change lanes unexpectedly.
  • Impaired Driving: Alcohol and drugs significantly impair judgment, reaction time, and coordination for all motorists.
  • Helmet Usage: Pennsylvania’s lack of universal helmet laws contributes to more severe injuries and fatalities in motorcycle crashes.
