Virginia Accident Leaves One Dead
A Sunday morning crash on I-81 near Abingdon, Virginia has left a 23-year-old college student dead. The driver of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler left the northbound lanes of the highway, struck several trees then overturned. The deceased was the only person involved in the single-vehicle accident.
Fleeing Man Causes Fatal Accident in West Virginia
Deputies in Loudon County, Virginia attempted to pull over a speeding driver before he fled the scene and raced across the state line into West Virginia causing a multi-car accident leaving one person dead and five others injured, including the fleeing driver. The DC man was driving a stolen Toyota 4Runner on Wednesday morning around 3am when he crossed into oncoming traffic and sideswiped a car carrying three people, then careened sideways and struck a van head-on that was carrying two. All of those involved in the accident were taken to the hospital with non-specified injuries. The man fleeing from the police was charged with speeding to elude, possession of a stolen vehicle and driving on a suspended license.
California Pedestrian Dies When Struck by Car
A pedestrian running across a San Marcos, California street on Wednesday night was struck by a car heading east. The man died of his injuries at Palomar Medical Center. The area of the road on West San Marcos Boulevard where the man was struck was very busy at the time of the accident. The driver stopped to help the victim, and has not been charged in the incident.
Reckless Pennsylvania Driver Takes Aim at Pedestrians
An Erie, Pennsylvania man was put in jail Thursday morning after he was charged with trying to run down pedestrians on Erie’s east side. The man was driving his 2000 Chevrolet Blazer at a high speed down the sidewalk around 7:30pm on Wednesday night. He was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, reckless driving and driving under the influence. No one was injured in the incident.
