Virginia Teenager Dies in Single-Car Accident

According to WAVY.com, a teenager lost her life early Saturday morning in a single-car accident after she lost control of the vehicle she was driving on I-64 in James City County, Virginia.  The 17-year-old girl was traveling east when she over-corrected, ran off the road and struck a tree.  A passenger in the car was taken to the local hospital with unspecified injuries.  Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Woman Dies After Driving into Oklahoma Lake

A 95-year-old Norman, Oklahoma woman apparently suffered a medical episode before driving her car off Alameda Drive and ending up in Lake Thunderbird on Monday.  She was driving east, “at a high rate of speed” when she struck a pipe gate causing her car to veer off the road and sink in the lake.  The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three Dead, One Critical in New Jersey Accident

A Honda sedan traveling on I-295 near Oldmans Township, New Jersey on Monday evening ran off the interstate, struck a tree in the center median, then burst into flames.  A nine-year-old boy was the sole survivor of the accident and was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.  The other three occupants of the car died at the scene.  Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Nine Members of North Carolina Family Injured in Georgia Accident

Twelve family members in a borrowed van traveling from Durham, North Carolina to Orlando, Florida for vacation were involved in a single-vehicle accident on I-95 near Savannah, Georgia on Sunday.  The van apparently suffered a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control, and skid across three lanes of traffic where the van then flipped and landed on a highway entrance ramp.  Five of the passengers were ejected from the van.  A total of nine were injured with non-specified injuries.  Four family members remained hospitalized Monday.
