Who To Call For A Flat Tire
For a flat tire, call your roadside assistance service if you have one. Coverage may be provided through your auto insurer, vehicle manufacturer, dealership, automobile club or another membership programme. If you do not have roadside assistance, a local towing company or mobile tire service can usually change the tire or tow the vehicle to a repair shop. Before calling, move the vehicle away from traffic if it is safe to do so, turn on the hazard lights and identify your location as precisely as possible. If you are stranded in an unsafe traffic lane or another situation involving immediate danger, contact emergency services. Do not attempt to change a tire beside fast-moving traffic if there is not enough safe working space. When arranging non-emergency assistance, ask whether there is a call-out charge and whether your existing coverage will reimburse it. If a temporary spare is fitted, follow its speed and mileage restrictions and arrange repair or replacement of the damaged tire promptly.
