Nine Car Accident Leaves Three Dead in CA Accident
A nine-car crash in Monterey County, CA left three people dead and approximately 10 people injured, two seriously. According to police, the Wednesday evening accident occurred when a woman suspected of reached for her cell phone and crossed the center line in her SUV, striking a Volkswagen head-on. Three occupants of the Volkswagen died and a fourth was seriously injured. After the two vehicles crashed, another seven cars were involved in a chain-reaction crash.  The occupants of the Volkswagen and those in another car following them were returning from a funeral in King City.  The pileup occurred on Highway 101 near King City, CA.

Man Dies Crossing Street at Busy Philadelphia Intersection
A 77-year-old man crossing the road at Henry Avenue and School House Lane in the East Falls section of Philadelphia was struck by a vehicle last week.  The impact of the crash caused the man to roll over the front of the vehicle, shattering the windshield of the car.  The victim died from his injuries after being transported to the local hospital.  According to news reports the intersection is dangerous and similar accidents have occurred.  Pedestrians interviewed said they always look twice before crossing at that intersection.

VA College Student Dies in DUI Accident
A Virginia man has been charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a blood or breath test and felony manslaughter after a VCU student died in a crash with the 23-year-old that ran a red light last Tuesday night.  The impact of the crash caused the car that was struck to spin and slam into a building. The woman, who was a backseat passenger, died upon impact.  The two other occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.  The accident occurred on Canal Street in Richmond, VA. None of the five occupants in the drunk driver’s vehicle were injured.

Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing into Car in High-Speed Chase in Texas
Two motorists were seriously injured when their car was struck by a motorcycle that had been involved in a high-speed race last Tuesday.  The police had stopped one of the racing motorcyclists and when he attempted to stop the other the driver refused to stop and sped off.  The police chased the motorcycle from Stan Schleuter Loop onto Clear Creek Road near Fort Hood, TX, where the motorcycle struck the car as it pulled out of a business. The motorcyclist was ejected from his motorcycle upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the car had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life – he was airlifted to a local hospital.  The motorcyclist was a soldier at Fort Hood.
