SUV Rollover Results in Fatality
A 20-year-old woman died in a single car crash on I-95 near Springfield, Virginia, after the car in which she was a passenger struck the jersey barrier throwing her from the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, the woman’s mother, was injured but her injuries were not believed to be life threatening. Virginia state police believe the driver lost control of the SUV while traveling in the far right lane, then overturned across all four lanes of the road before the vehicle came to a stop against the jersey barrier.
Man Dies After Being Ejected from Car in Head-On Collision
The Cullman Times reports that a Cullman County man and his dog were killed when the car they were riding in collided with a dump truck. The impact from the head-on collision ejected the man from his vehicle. The vehicles were traveling on County Road 54 near Highway 69 in Bremen. A passenger in the dump truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Marine Dies in Fatal Car Crash Involving Drunk Driver
Madison, Alabama police reported that a Marine Corm Sgt. from New York died in an accident in the area of Wall Triana and Highway 72 after he struck the back of a car and then crashed into a light pole. The pickup truck the Marine was driving was traveling at speeds in excess of the speed limit, and the driver of the car he struck failed a field sobriety test, and was later arrested and charged with DUI. The accident destroyed the traffic signal and tied up traffic for hours.
Raleigh, NC Man Dies in Car Accident in School Zone
The driver of an SUV died after his vehicle veered off the road and struck a road sign, swerved back onto the road to then leave the road again, strike a tree, and catch fire. The driver’s 10-year-old son was a passenger in the car and was taken to the hospital for his injuries. He was listed in fair condition. Raleigh, NC police said the accident occurred in front of a north Raleigh school as parents and school buses were dropping their children off at school. The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
