Texas Billionaire Dies in CO Car Accident
Charles Wyly, a 77-year-old Texas billionaire and philanthropist, died near Aspen, CO in a two-car crash on Sunday. Wyly, who was driving a Porsche, was turning back onto the highway near the airport, when his car was broadsided by a sport utility vehicle. Police believe Wyly failed to yield prior to entering the highway. Wyly, who was central to building the Dallas Arts District, was pronounced dead at the local hospital. The other driver suffered moderate injuries.
Rear-end Collision in FL on I-95 Kills One, Injures Two
A car stopped on the northbound lanes of I-95, north of Okeechobee Boulevard near exit 71, was rear-ended by another car early Sunday morning resulting in the death of a passenger, and serious injuries to the two drivers. The interstate was closed for close to four hours while rescue workers worked at the scene. Police are continuing to investigate and are unsure why the car had stopped on the interstate.
PA Accident Claims Two Teenagers
Police continue to investigate a Philadelphia-area accident that left two teenagers dead, three injured, and the driver awaiting news of whether he will be charged in the deaths. The five teenagers left a party around 1:00am Saturday morning and were traveling westbound on Witmer Road in Horsham Township, PA. The driver apparently lost control of his car, and it traveled off the roadway and struck a curb. The car then continued off the road, crossed Wade Avenue, traveled through a yard and struck several trees before coming to rest. The two teens were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and the other two passengers were taken to the local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
Two Die in Head-on Collision in Minnesota
A Mankato, MN head-on collision on Sunday left two women dead. Police were responding to driving complaints of a Chevrolet Cobalt on Blue Earth County 90 near Pintail Avenue. During their search the Cobalt, which was heading eastbound, was involved in the head-on collision in the westbound lanes with an Oldsmobile Alero. The driver of the Alero and the passenger of the Cobalt both died. The condition of the Cobalt driver was not reported.
