Florida Woman Rescued When Car Plunges into Canal
A Palm Beach County deputy saved a woman from drowning after she crashed her car into a 20-foot-deep canal.  The woman was driving home after working the night shift at Target on Black Friday.  The 36-year-old woman who apparently fell asleep at the wheel near Muck City Road and Conners Highway in Pahokee, FL awoke in the canal and called 911.  She is not able to swim and the deputy arrived in time to pull her to safety.  She was treated at a local hospital and released. 

Fatal NC Accident
An SUV traveling westbound on N.C. 211 unexpectedly slowed and attempted to make a U-turn when it was struck by a tractor-trailer Monday morning.  The driver of the tractor-trailer, traveling behind the SUV, swerved to miss the vehicle but ended up striking the driver’s door sending the vehicle up a 20-foot embankment.   N.C. 211 was closed down for hours while police investigated. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.  The truck driver was not injured.

Drag Racers Critically Injure Woman in Crash
The Pensacola News Journal reports a 77-year-old woman is in critical condition after the car in which she was riding was struck by a Mustang that was apparently racing another vehicle on Gulf Breeze Parkway in Gulf Breeze, FL Saturday night. The 73-year-old driver apparently pulled into the path of the speeding car while turning onto Twin Pine Boulevard.  The Mustang slammed into the passenger door of the couple’s car, struck several road signs and hit a tree.  Police are searching for the driver of the second speeding car who did not stop. 

PA Woman Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash

A 51-year-old woman died in a single-vehicle crash last Tuesday in West Abington Twp, PA, according to the Scranton Times Tribune.  The woman’s 19-year-old daughter was driving on Wilbur Hill Road around 10 a.m. when she apparently ran off the road and struck a tree.  Her mother was ejected from the Jeep Compass and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police are conducting an accident reconstruction.
