What is Pain and Suffering?
Pain and Suffering is a legal term that describes the physical, emotional, and mental injuries a personal injury victim sustained following an accident.
According to Black’s Law Dictionary, pain and suffering is defined as “physical discomfort, emotional trauma, or mental anguish that a plaintiff experiences as a result of a defendant’s actions.” As such, it often refers to the non-economic damages that a plaintiff may claim to compensate for the physical pain, emotional anguish, and diminished quality of life caused by the defendant’s actions or negligence.
Pain and suffering can include physical pain or emotional distress. For example: Amy is in a car accident because the other driver drove recklessly. As a result of the accident Amy might suffer from back problems and have a panic attack every time she tries to drive a car. Therefore, not only could Amy sue the other driver for the damage to her car, but also for the pain and suffering it has caused her physical and emotional health. Pain and suffering is aimed at providing compensation to injuried parties, and to have those at fault recognize the harm they caused and deter them from repeating their actions. Understanding pain and suffering is essential in personal injury litigation to ensure that plaintiffs receive fair and just compensation for the full scope of their injuries and losses.

Lebanon County, PA – Coroner Responds to Rollover Car Accident in Millcreek Twp.
LEBANON COUNTY, PA (February 18, 2025) – A pickup truck flipped over in Millcreek Township on February 18.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, a pickup truck flipped onto its roof in the 600 block of Stricklerstown Road near Hackman Road around 5:15 a.m. The coroner was called to the scene.
Stricklerstown Road was closed between Hackman Road and Heidelberg Avenue/Route 897 as the state police investigated the accident.

Elk County, PA – Man Killed in Crane Accident
Elk County, PA (February 12, 2025) – A man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crane accident in Elk County on February 10.
According to news reports, the Elk County Coroner confirmed the death happened on Carlson Road in Jones Township around 6:10 p.m. During the retraction of an outrigger on a crane, the man suffered a head injury.
His death was ruled accidental by the coroner.

Lancaster County, PA – Man Dies After Van Collides with Scooter
Lancaster County, PA (February 11, 2025) – A man has died after a van collided with the scooter he was riding on with his sons in Lancaster County on February 10.
According to news reports, the man was driving a scooter that crashed around the 5800 block of the Old Philadelphia Pike in Salisbury Township around 3 p.m. Police say the man and his 15-month-old boy were taken to Lancaster General Hospital while the 6-year-old was airlifted to Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
The man died at the hospital while the two boys remain in critical condition. The driver of the van was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
