Car Accident Round-Up – PA Teen Dies After Being Struck by Car on Way to Bus

13-year-old killed, 17-year-old injured in car accident while trying to catch the school bus

PA Girl Dies After Being Struck by Car
The Erie Times-News reports a 13-year-old girl died and a 17-year-old was injured Tuesday morning after being struck by a car as they crossed Perry Highway to catch a school bus.  The 19-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Cavalier traveling north on Perry Highway failed to stop for the school bus that was stopped in the southbound lane with its lights flashing and hit the two students.   The 13-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.  The condition of the other teen was not released.  The police are continuing to investigate the accident.

Four Injured in Florida Accident
Four people were seriously injured in a two-car crash in St. Augustine, FL Monday night. The accident, on Florida 16 at Whisper Ridge Drive in St. Johns County, occurred when an SUV was traveling westbound on 16 and was struck by an eastbound vehicle while the SUV was making a left turn onto Whisper Ridge.   Both drivers and their passengers were taken to the local hospital in serious condition.  None of the victims was wearing a seatbelt.

Fatal Accident in San Diego, CA
A single-car crash in Barrio Logan in San Diego, CA early Wednesday morning left the driver dead.  The San Diego Tribune reports the 46-year-old man was traveling southbound on I-5 when he apparently lost control of his vehicle, went off the right shoulder of the road and became airborne.  The car landed vertically against the concrete abutment of the 28th street overpass.  The man died instantly. The freeway ramp at National Avenue was closed for over three hours as police investigated the accident. 

NC Accident Leaves 10 Injured
A 15-year-old, unlicensed male was driving a van with seven passengers when it crashed head-on into a Volkswagon Beetle carrying two people.  The teen driver, who was traveling on Old Concord Road in Charlotte, NC, apparently swerved across the double-yellow line to avoid hitting the car in front of him.  He then crashed into the oncoming Beetle.  Both drivers and the eight passengers were taken to the local hospital for treatment.  Two were listed in serious condition.  The teen was charged in the accident.
