What is a Contingency Fee?
According to the American Bar Association (ABA), a contingency fee is a fee arrangement between a client and their lawyer in which the lawyer is paid out of any damages that are awarded. That is to say that the fee is paid to the lawyer only if the case is won.

What is a Contingency Fee?
A contingency fee directly contracts an arrangement such as a fixed hourly rate in which lawyers are paid regardless of the outcome of their case. Contingency fees typically do not include any up-front payments, while other fee arrangements do. Contingency fees are particularly common in personal injury cases. In those cases, if a lawyer successfully represents their client and wins their case, they receive a percentage of the damages awarded to their client. The ABA estimates that lawyers typically receive between one-fourth to one-third of the damages in these cases. So if a plaintiff sued a defendant and won $1,000, the lawyer would receive between $250 and $333. However, this is not a rule, and some lawyers may operate on a higher contingency.
In concept, contingency-based-fees allow for more people to have access to lawyers and justice. When paying on a contingency, they don’t need to spend money up-front on a case they may not even win, though there may be other fees to be paid. Lawyers may also have incentive to give the best representation possible in cases where their payment is outcome-based, although some suggest that they may lead to some lawyers settling cases too early.

Florida Truck Accident Lawyers
Florida’s truck route network is a vital system that supports the state’s logistics and transportation needs. It includes major highways like I-95, I-75, I-4, and I-10, which are essential for long-haul trucking in the trucking industry. Key US highways such as US-1, US-27, and US-98 provide important connections between cities, while state roads ensure comprehensive coverage.
With the number of commercial vehicles on Florida roads, it’s no surprise that accidents do and will continue to happen. Florida’s busy highways see significant commercial traffic, including delivery trucks, freight carriers, and other large vehicles. Unfortunately, this also means a higher likelihood of large truck-related accidents, which can result in severe injuries and fatalities due to the size and weight of these vehicles.
When a truck accident occurs, it’s not just about dealing with the immediate aftermath—such as medical treatment and vehicle repairs—but also about understanding the regulations and liabilities. […]

What Happens If Someone Hits You and They Don’t Have Insurance?
It is estimated that 1 in 8 drivers in the United States are uninsured. Unfortunately, this means if you are involved in a car accident, you may encounter an uninsured motorist. But what happens if someone hits you and they don’t have insurance?
The answer largely depends on the state you live in. Sometimes, your own insurance may cover the losses you incurred in the collision and in others, you may have to file a personal injury lawsuit.
The extent of your injuries as well as if you carry uninsured motorist (UM) coverage or underinsured motorist (UIM) coverage in your insurance policy will also determine where and how you can seek compensation.
Munley Law car accident attorneys help drivers involved in car accidents with uninsured motorists and can explain your options.
