What is a Tort?
A tort is a civil or private wrong, distinct from a crime, that leads to legal liability. Personal injury law is the most common type of tort law.

Unlike criminal acts, which are prosecuted by the state, torts are addressed through civil lawsuits brought by the injured party (plaintiff) seeking compensation or damages for the harm suffered.
