She then struck the center median, causing her to be ejected from the car. Vehicle Ejection Accidents
Being ejected from a vehicle is a very serious and potentially life-threatening situation. Immediately following vehicle ejection, do not attempt to move unless you’re in immediate danger from oncoming traffic. If you can reach your phone, call 911 or try signaling for help by shouting out using your phone’s flashlight. Remember, stay as still as possible — you may have a spinal cord injury.
Get immediate medical attention as soon as possible since an internal injury may not be immediately apparent. Remember to follow up with your healthcare provider even after the initial treatment.
Depending on what caused the ejection, a vehicle ejection may have consequences for your car accident claim. Insurance companies typically investigate to see if seat belts were worn at the time of the accident. Under Pennsylvania’s comparative negligence laws, your claim could be reduced if you were not properly restrained during the accident.
However, if a defect in the vehicle resulted in your injuries, you may have a claim with the vehicle’s manufacturer. Gathering evidence after the car accident is essential to your claim. Make sure you or another person gets photos or videos of the accident along with the defective vehicle parts.
