On Thursday, October 8, Attorney Daniel Munley, partner at Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys, spoke at the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Advanced Trial Advocacy College on Litigating Truck Collision Cases, held in Dallas, TX. Dan’s presentation was titled, “The Mechanics of the Mechanical Case – From Intake Through Trial.”
Attorney Munley is a member and former chairman of the AAJ’s Trucking Litigation Group, a group dedicated to providing lawyers with the tools and resources to successfully litigate trucking cases and improve highway safety in the United States. Munley frequently travels around the country to speak on issues and trends surrounding truck accident cases in an effort to increase the collective body of legal knowledge on the subject.

Dan Munley Speaks Up for Victims of I 380 Tractor Trailer-Bus Crash as Investigation Continues
Yesterday, Interstate 380 was shut down by a deadly crash between a tractor trailer and a charter bus in Monroe County. According to the state police, the tractor trailer crossed the median and hit the bus head on. Three people, including the bus driver, were killed, and 13 more were taken to area hospitals to be treated for injuries. Nine were taken to Pocono Medical Center, and the rest were treated at Geisinger trauma centers.
According to WNEP, The Academy Viaggidea charter tour bus was carrying a group of Italian tourists on their way to visit Niagara Falls. The driver of the tractor trailer has been identified as Franklin Wyatt from Oklahoma. His truck is registered to XTRA Lease Trucking of St. Louis.

Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys Reaches $3.97 Million Settlement in Tractor Trailer Case
(May 2015 – Scranton, PA) – Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys today announced a $3.97 million settlement in a case stemming from a tractor trailer accident in January, 2011. Plaintiff, Allison Kowalski, whose husband, Mark Kowalski, was killed, was represented by Attorneys Daniel Munley and Marion Munley of the Munley firm.
Mr. Kowalski, from New York state, was traveling east on I-80 in Columbia County, PA, when he encountered defendant Patrick Webb, a Texas truck driver who was also traveling eastbound on I-80. Webb was driving for PBM, a Texas trucking company. The trailer he was hauling was leased to PBM by Republic National Industries of Texas.
Webb lost control of his rig on the snow-covered highway, and his tractor slid off of the road and into the median. Kowalski, who was traveling behind Webb, was unable to avoid a collision with Webb’s trailer which was blocking the eastbound lanes of traffic. […]

NYC’s “mean streets” just got a little nicer: 2014 saw the fewest pedestrian deaths in a century
Pedestrian deaths in NYC were at an all-time low in 2014. That year, the city saw the fewest fatal pedestrian accidents (132) since they started keeping track one hundred years ago.
Overall traffic fatalities fell from 293 to 248.
Such a drop seems incredible, particularly for a city with as much vehicle and pedestrian traffic as New York. So, how did they accomplish this? It is due in part to a mission implemented by Mayor Bill de Blasio and the NYPD called “Vision Zero,” an ambitious plan aimed at eliminating traffic fatalities in New York. The plan involved lowering the speed limit and stepping up law enforcement. The city reduced speed limits from 30mph to 25mph, and increased the number of tickets issued for failing to yield to pedestrians by 126%. The Taxi and Limousine Commission also issued thousands more for safety-related violations. […]
