Juul e-cigarette company faces multiple lawsuits

Posted August 21st, 2019 by Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys.

Juul Labs Inc., maker of popular e-cigarette and vaping products, is being sued in state and federal courts by families all over the country alleging that these products caused young people to develop an addiction to nicotine and suffer serious health consequences.

According to the National Law Review, a suit filed in California “alleges Juul purposely designed a highly addictive product, concealed the addictive nature of the product, and lured teen users with advertising similar to the type banned for the tobacco industry. San Francisco U.S. District Judge William Orrick III approved the case to go forward to court.”

What is a JUUL?

Juul: “a battery-powered device which looks like a USB drive and converts a nicotine-based liquid into vapor for inhalation. The company previously said that each cartridge, or “pod,” contains the same amount of nicotine as a pack of cigarettes, […]

Roundup lawsuits continue to make headlines

Posted August 12th, 2019 by Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys.

In the last few years, makers of the popular weedkiller Roundup have faced thousands of lawsuits alleging that their product caused cancer. Now, more than 18,000 claimants have filed suit.

Claimants allege that exposure to glyphosate, the ingredient found in Roundup, caused them to develop non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Furthermore, they allege that Monsanto, makers of Roundup, knew about the risks of their product and failed to issue appropriate warning to consumers.

As of August 9, 2019, three cases against Monsanto have gone to trial. All three cases have resulted in massive awards for plaintiffs. Even after judges reduced the amounts recommended by juries, the verdicts were significant. For example, in July, a California judge reduced a couple’s $2 billion to $87 million.

In May of this year, Kenneth Feinberg was hired to mediate a settlement in multidistrict (MDL) over Roundup. […]

Multiple couples sue CHA Fertility Center over embryo mix-up

Posted July 12th, 2019 by Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys.

This week, two couple filed separate lawsuits against the same fertility clinic in California after a devastating mix-up. One mother gave birth to children who turned out not to be her own, and another would find out that her son had been born to someone else.

Father holding his baby

Here’s what happened…

A New York couple had been trying for more than six years to have children of their own. They underwent multiple cycles of in vitro fertilization (IVF), a costly process by which embryos are created using the mother’s egg and father’s sperm, stored and preserved, and then are implanted in the womb, with the hope of a successful pregnancy. After multiple failed cycles, the couple was informed that they finally succeeded, and were expecting twin girls (the embryos they created had been female). The first signs of trouble came when ultrasounds showed two male babies, […]

Truck accident lawyers: Snyder county crash kills Selinsgrove man

Posted July 10th, 2019 by Munley Law Personal Injury Attorneys.

A recent truck crash in Snyder County claimed the life of a man from Selinsgrove, Northumberland County. The wreck happened in Shamokin Dam, PA, and had Routes 11 and 15 backed up for miles.

The accident occurred when a car and tractor trailer were stopped at a red light. A second tractor trailer collided with the stopped vehicles; the car between the trucks was crushed by the impact, and the driver of that vehicle was killed.

The police investigation into the crash and the driver who struck the stopped vehicles is underway.

As truck accident lawyers, we have, unfortunately, seen cases very similar to this one. Marion Munley, current Chair of the American Association for Justice Trucking Group, and Daniel Munley who served as Chair in 2011, travel the country to educate other lawyers and lawmakers about the common causes of truck accidents like this one, […]
